Opportunity

The founder of Corvus Link came to us looking to build a SaaS platform that would help manage business problems and improve business resilience. His goal was to build a web application that would allow companies to gather and keep all the data needed to solve business problems in one single tool.

Project Scope

Approach

The team assigned to this project included a Tech Lead to manage the technical frameworks, a UI/UX Designer, Front-end Developers, and Back-end Developers. The team created the MVP for this SaaS platform from scratch, including all foundational features to validate the needs of their target audiences.

As a part of this project, we created three major components: a mobile responsive landing page to engage their target audience, a web application to analyze data on custom dashboards, and the IT infrastructure needed to make it all function.

Solution

  • UI/UX design

    UI/UX design

To ensure a user-friendly solution, we created UI mockups for the whole SaaS platform in Figma as one of our first deliverables. This allowed the team at Corvus Link to review and comment on specific designs.

  • DevOps

    DevOps

To ensure scalable support for the platform, we created a cloud infrastructure that included a CI/CD pipeline with configured environments that were automated with Terraform.

  • Back-end Development

    Back-end Development

To ensure sustainable development, we created an API that works with the database to handle all calculations and business logic. Additionally, the API integrates with third-party APIs that provide services such as sending email messages. We also developed an AI/ML component to provide automated analysis and suggestions.

  • Front-end Development

    Front-end Development

We transformed UI mockups into a responsive web application that works effectively in every browser. Technology stack including TypeScript, React, Ant.Design, HTML, CSS, etc.

  • Project Management

    Project Management

To ensure the project’s success, we defined a clear scope, provided Jira and Confluence configuration, created user stories and tasks, and provided team management through daily meetings and consistent progress updates.

AI/ML Integration Solutions

Corvus Link’s initial setup used OpenAI’s API for generating business insights for their users, which involved high subscription costs and data security concerns. Our mission was clear: replace OpenAI with a custom, open-source AI model to reduce costs without sacrificing response quality or processing speed.

Key Challenges

  • Enhanced Token Capacity

    Enhanced Token Capacity

Previous versions of pen source AI models had a limited context of 8,000 tokens, restricting their ability to process longer, complex queries efficiently. We leveraged LLaMA 3.1, a cutting-edge open-source model capable of handling up to 128,000 tokens, allowing for more in-depth, meaningful responses. This required specialized GPU hosting strategies to manage the model’s memory-intensive nature without sacrificing response times.

  • Optimizing for Memory & Speed

    Optimizing for Memory & Speed

Transitioning to an advanced model with high token capacity introduced memory management challenges. Through an innovative approach using vLLM (an inference engine), we implemented real-time processing techniques, ensuring the model’s efficiency without overloading GPU memory. We also incorporated caching to speed up responses on frequent queries, resulting in a noticeable performance boost.

  • Security Focus with AWS Hosting

    Security Focus with AWS Hosting

Security was paramount, especially given the sensitive nature of our client’s data. We chose to deploy the AI model on AWS, a trusted provider with top-tier security standards, to ensure data protection.

By replacing OpenAI with our custom, open-source model, our client benefits from  higher performance, enhanced data security, and long-term financial savings. And with extensive caching and optimized memory usage, response times are faster, empowering the client to deliver a seamless user experience.
